QURAN AL KAREEM AND AIDS PREVENTION

By Prof. Dr. M. A. Soofi

Aid and Hepatitis have become global problem in the world of today. There is lot being done for management and control of the disease all over the world. Such ailments were not present before and this novel infective diseases has created revolution in the history of medicine in which much of the population is being involved and the treatment therapy is not being discovered there is only way to prevent the disease, the only choice for developing countries. The ideal preventive measures are available if we could involve ourselves towards learning the Quranic education. There are millions of people who need antiretoviral (ARV) treatment for Aids and it has become now problem as a global health emergency. It is estimated that some 6 million people in the developing countries have HIV infection that requires antiretroviral treatment but fewer than 3 lacs are being treated. Mostly the people need treatment at Africa. I am compel to give the data that about 6000 youngster become infective with HIV virus everyday the equivalent of one every 14 seconds. This is report from United Nation Population Funds. The majority is of the female. There are around 1.2 billion adolescents, defined as those aged between 10 and 19, the UNFPA's annual report said. Nearly half of the world's total population is under 25. The report said: HIV/AIDS has become a disease of young people, with young adults aged 15 to 24 accounting for half of the some 5 million new cases of HIV infection worldwide each year. Yet young people often lack the information, skills and services they need to protect themselves from HIV infection. Providing these is crucial to turning back the epidemic. About 36 million people are currently living with HIV/AIDS infections and by 20SO the disease is expected to have claimed as many as 278 million lives. By 2010, it is anticipated there will be 23 million AIDS orphans. The report found that 44 of the 107 countries surveyed did not in dude AIDS education in their schools.

Preventive measures are the restriction to the legalized, phiosio-logical sexual relation with own spouse, no other sexual relation rather own the partner is safer. All means of prevention for conception are failure and infection is carried out due to the sexual illegal relation. In USA recently gay marriages have been permitted i.e. sex man to main and sex woman to woman is allowed, it is source of spread of Aids and Hepatitis.

The Religion of Islam has emphasis in Sura Noor 30-31: in prevention of diseases and illegal sexual relationship between man and woman.

"Say to the believing men that they lower their gaze and restrain their sexual passions. That is purer for them. Surely Allah is Aware of what they do".

"And say to the believing women that they lower their gaze and restrain their sexual passions and do not display their adornment except what appears thereof. And let them wear their head coverings over their bosoms. And they should not display their adornment except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbbands, or their brothers, or their brothers sons, or their sisters sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or guileless male servants, or the children who know not womens' nakedness. And let them not strike their feet so that the adornment that they hide may be known. And turn to Allah all, O believers, so that you may be successful.

Men are enjoined to lower their gaze, just as women are enjoined to do in the next verse. This injunction is given as a preventive against an evil which deals a death blow to all pure social relations, vis, the evil of fornication. The Quran does not only forbid an evil, but also points out the way, by walking in which man may be able to eschew it. Both men and women are required to keep their eyes cast down, so that when they meet each other, neither should men stare at women nor women at men. In a society in which women never appeared in public, the injunction to men to lower their gaze would be meaningless; and the similar injunction to women given in the next verse, if they never left the compounds of their houses, would be absurd.

To guard the relations between males and females and to check a too free intermingling of men and women, the Quran now lays down another injunction in addition to that which requires both sexes to lower their gaze when they meet each other. It requires women in particular not to display their adornment.

For clean life and healthier society Quran is particular to save the Society from such dreadful diseases and warns the men and women. Than that woman should be chase and pure, and crime shall be rooted out. Let decency, kindness and justice prevail in all sex relationships, let marriage be cherished and women's rights secured carefully guided family jars adjusted and all life lived, in faith, charity and kindness sincere to all our fellow creature.

Marriage protects the women and saves her to indulge in illegal affairs so as applies to man. This is unusual crime in Quran and Quran stresses on safe and pure life.
